SoftwareDepo DVD Ripper is a DVD movie ripper for Windows. It allows you to copy your DVD movies onto your hard drive in a few different formats, including AVI, MPEG, ASF, and MOV, among others. This ripper is free, but it looks very old and lacks the features that I think are standard for DVD rippers these days.
First, I don't see the option to choose which audio and subtitle track you want to use for your ripped DVD movie. Most DVD movies come with several audio tracks in different languages, but this application won't let you select one. Second, I really think that the user shouldn't go to the settings menu just to select an output format. A simple drop-down list on the main window does marvels, and is a feature that is present in most converters out there. Third, I also don't like that you can't select a single title for conversion. By default, SoftwareDepo DVD Ripper will attempt to rip the entire DVD into the selected format on the settings window.
And perhaps the most important problem that this ripper has is that it doesn't quite work. Whenever you try to start the ripping process, you get an error. I did manage to get past the error by uninstalling the application and re-installing it. But I would recommend that you stay away from this one and try one of other free DVD rippers available on the Net.
